Dark ruby in the glass, it wafts upwards to the nose with the softness of a tissue. Good ripe red fruit, some chocolate and sour cherry, finishing with some light menthol. Supple fruit, cherry comes through quickly, then the earthiness drives it to the finish, which is medium-long. Lovely mouth feel, the tongue is well coated. A gorgeous supple wine, good depth, beautifully balanced between the tannins and acidity.
Some amazing wines last night at Chez Moi, curtesy of Henry Tan and Wine Monopole. From right to left: 2011, 1966, 1970, 1975, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988. My favorite was the Domaine de Chevalier. Great nose and long finish.
